My mother told this story about 1947. In that year my father quit his job, started a new business with his two older brothers and decided to build a new house. With a wife and two children to support, she wasn't too intrigued. That was the beginning of what today is Manda Fine Meats.
The business began as Manda Brothers Provision Company, as distributors for Rath Blackhawk fresh meats, Kraft products and many other provisions used in groceries and restaurants. In the late 1950's, my Dad and my Uncles began researching recipes for smoked pork sausage. The recipe that was developed emerged as Manda's Blue Ribbon Smoked Sausage. That same recipe is used today. Over the years the business has changed and evolved into today's company with many products. All are locally produced with the same fine care that our name has always represented.
Now it's 2009 and people call Manda's from around the country wanting to buy their products. The problem is Manda's only sells wholesale to retail outlets and ships in eighteen wheelers. Shipping individual orders is not in their business plan. So I decided: "there is a market for an online retail outlet". So, here I am!
